What each setting captures, where the data comes from, and how it affects a run.

Data sources used on every extraction

FMCSA provides the carrier profile: USDOT and docket identifiers, business name, entity status, address, phone, fleet, driver, operation, registration, and available safety fields.

MOTUS officials are always requested automatically for every carrier. Available official names, titles, phone numbers, and email addresses are added without a checkbox. A carrier may still return no official when MOTUS has no record.

Carrier input and range limits

USDOT or MC: enter an inclusive From and To range. For example, 100 to 105 processes six inputs.
Legal or DBA name: enter one company name per line, or import a TXT/CSV list.
A single run supports a displayed range limit of 1,000 inputs. Invalid, blank, or duplicate inputs are not processed.

Capture fields

These checkboxes control which columns appear in Recent Extracted Data, database tables, and exports. They do not change which carrier is searched. Recommended restores the standard working set; column arrangement controls display and export order.

Follow links / enrich data

Each selected option can make one additional FMCSA request per carrier. Select only the details required for the job.

Option	What it adds	Typical use
Authority	Available operating-authority details. The daily Open Data fallback may provide only linked docket information.	Verify operating eligibility and compliance context.
Docket numbers	Linked MC, MX, or FF docket identifiers, including additional numbers when available.	Match records across systems and find related registrations.
Cargo carried	Reported cargo categories such as General Freight, Building Materials, or Metal.	Segment carriers for loads, campaigns, and sales lists.
Operations	Operation classification such as Authorized For-Hire or Private. It can overlap with the base FMCSA profile.	Filter carriers by business and operating model.
Safety BASICs	Available BASIC category, percentile, and deficient status. BASICs are not included in the daily Company Census fallback.	Safety review and compliance prioritization.

Request example: 100 carriers with three optional FMCSA enrichments can require about 100 base FMCSA requests, 300 enrichment requests, and 100 automatic MOTUS requests.

Polite delay between inputs

The delay pauses before moving to the next input. 500 ms means half a second. A value of 500-1000 ms is suitable for normal runs; increase it when a source is rate-limiting or failing. Zero is fastest but increases request pressure. The delay is between inputs, not between every enrichment request for the same carrier.

Extraction filters

Status, entity type, official title, Power Units / Drivers, state, email, and phone filters are applied after a source returns a carrier. Exact entity type only keeps pure CARRIER records and excludes combined types such as CARRIER/BROKER. Exact complete title only requires the full saved title to match; when off, an individual title can match a combined title record. Suggested applies Active, exact CARRIER, and 1 / 1 fleet filters. Reset filters clears every filter. Non-matching records are counted as filtered and are not retained in temporary results, database saves, or exports.

Availability, retries, and saving

If FMCSA QCMobile is unavailable, the extractor can use the official daily Company Census dataset with fewer enrichment details.
Temporary source errors are retried. “No record” means the sources returned no matching carrier; “Technical failed” means the request could not complete.
Temporary extraction keeps recent results in the current browser session. Save to MySQL persists matching carriers for Database and Process Data workflows.
Extraction filters save automatically to the signed-in user's account and survive browser or server restarts. “Save now” writes them immediately.
